Recently, my friend Megan (same name, spelled differently) posted this lovely file cabinet makeover on Facebook, and I asked if I could post it here. She’s a talented bassist and needed somewhere to store her sheet music. She found a regular file cabinet at Goodwill for $25 and spray painted it blue so that it would match nicely in her Lower Haight apartment. More after the jump…
Step 1: Megan removed the hardware with a screw driver and covered the parts she didn’t want to paint with painters tape.
Step 2: Meagan covered everything with plastic and drop cloths and made sure her work area was well ventilated
Step 3: Meagan sprayed one coat of white primer and let dry for 15 minutes.
Step 4: She sprayed 2 coats of Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze spray paint, letting it dry 10 minutes between coats.
Step 5: After the cabinet had dried at least an hour she replaced the hardware, and viola, her pretty blue cabinet was ready for use.
